Apples and Ice Empty
PostSubject: Apples and Ice   Apples and Ice I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 28, 2016 1:14 am

Shiruku had not awoken that morning feeling motivated to train, she wan't in the best of moods at this time of day. Early morning training, despite its perks, was just never something she had found to end up as a reward. It felt more like a cruel and unusual punishment for children who didn't do their regular training and then some. The young Hana girl, however, was not up for training like wildfire had been lit on their back and they had to run fast and work hard to get it off them, no! She wanted nothing more than to get an apple from the open market in town for breakfast and see where life brought her from there, who knew, maybe she would meet someone, or find something of interest, besides the apple stand.
Standing up and getting out of bed the turned in her night gown and began to pull the covers back up neatly, even though her bed was almost taller than her still, that irritated her to no extent. Did life wish to punish her for her height? That was unfair to short people all around! As Shiruku finished resetting her bed she stripped out of her night gown and opened up the shutter-like doors to her closet and reached up for her white gown and the blue apron that she had been told make her much to like a doll, she didn't mind that. Sliding into the clothing rather carefully for the pace at which she was going she had finished sliding on into the dress and tying her apron rather quickly. Putting on socks and rushing down stairs she practically hopped into her shoes and ran out the door, wanting that apple before a crowd was in the market, subconsciously noting that she was indeed exercising.
She wasn't moving to quickly and mostly she just dodged the people she could see or hear, it wasn't a problem when that was the case. Seeing as the market was mostly across the entire town she jogged for at least a good twenty minutes before she decided to stop. Shiruku began walking the hilly intersections anyways, these parts always had some sort of traffic area, but they were fairly cleared out today. She found it odd, but what was she to worry about such a thing. As the road became flat again Shiruku began to run again, she was close now and her tongue began to taste the fresh apple already. Rounding the final corner she closed her eyes for a moment and tripped over herself, falling forward.

" Goooooooooodmorning! ".

The first words that seemed to start off his day, though it wasn't something he was exactly bothered by. The energy of this particular individual always seemed to bring a positive light into his day. His eyes adjusted a bit as a woke up extremely early in the morning, hands motioning over them to help along with the process. Soon she would come into his vision far much clearly, and apparently the individual before Val had something positive to tell him based on the expression on her face. He immediately shook his head to fully awaken himself so he could take in whatever info without error.

" I have some great news! now I know Im not supposed to travel to certain places within the village but I figured since I already been to this particular place, it wouldn't be much of a big deal. Anywaaaaays when you was really sick recently, before I came here with your beautiful Plant friend, she informed me that the Green house was going to fire you if you missed anymore days, Bless her sweet heart by the way, how is she ? When you see her tell her I said Hi and that I send my love ".

Val looked at Ari, his mother for a second with an expression that basically was telling her that she was going off topic again like she often had a habit of doing. Ari knew her son far too well, picking up on the expression before bopping her own head slightly with her knuckles, feeling silly as she normally did. Getting back on track, Ari would continue with her initial thoughts.

" Sorry! what I was saying was that your Boss was going to fire you for missing the days at work. I figured that was not right so I marched down there and had a little talk with your boss, and no I didn't use anything to persuade'em. I just informed them that due to the horrible event, you was under the weather, in which they understood. You have to work extra though to make-up kinda though, so get ready! I already have breakfast made downstairs, so once you're set up here come see me down stairs and then I'll be shipping you out. No need to thank me! I didn't want you to be seperated from your Nice friend. Anyways yes! Dress, downstairs ".

A small smile came up on Val's face, an indication that he actually appreciated the energy that his mother possessed. It was strange definitely, but enjoyable. Nodding to display that he understood, he would get up out of bed completely, grab a Pair of his more casual clothes and make his way to the bathroom. A Few minutes passed before he walked out, cleaned and completely changed. He had breakfast following the daily cleanup, and as soon as he finished, he made his way out of the home quickly before Ari could stop him for her usual awkward goodbyes that often involved making an honest woman out of someone.

[Konoha - Greenhouse]

It wasn't too long before the young Yuki made his way to his first destination, which was the Greenhouse where he currently worked at. The Boss showed that she was proud to see him at last and that he was doing better, though the personal interactions didn't last all too long. There was somethings that he was to handle at the greenhouse, his day to day work prior to the Festival basically, and then there was a list of delivering that was to be made, following heading to the orchards, delivering supply to a specific shop, and then helping out that shop owner. That was quite a bit to be done, but everything prior to helping the shop owner would take a matter of minutes each. Tending to the plants at the greenhouse didn't take too long due to the new found respect and appreciation for nature established due to a certain somebody. Since the care taking of the herbs was done efficiently, that left a lot of energy to be dumped into taking care of the deliveries. Those took quite more time, though that was because of traveling from Point A, to B, and all the way to C and back to A. Still overall it take more than 2 hours time, and all that was left was to make his way to the orchards, pick up a Box of something and deliver it to a shop owner, and of course help the shop owner. This was the first time he had gotten a job like that while working within the greenhouse, it being a job that he couldn't accurately gauge the amount of time required to complete it. With a good deal of stamina still left within him, he made his way out to the Orchards, picking up the Package, which was a crate of Apples. It looked a good deal heavier than they actually were, so while a good amount of stamina would be spent, he would still be in a good condition upon nearing the place he was to deliver them.

[Konoha - Produce Store]

His attention remained on the sides, knowing that he wasn't walking in the opposite direction of street traffic. The only real thing that he needed to be aware of was crossing individuals, those walking through the flow, which wasn't too difficult. He continued making his way to his destination, and as he began to close in, he saw someone coming off from the side, short distance away actually. They were set on a collision course with each other, and natural assumption was that she was going to come to a pause, but one keen detail that he picked up on which caused immediate alert was that her eyes was closed. Since he was carrying a package and wasn't moving Fast, all he simply did was halt his movement, allowing way for her to pass without the two collision. It wouldn't just stop there though, as the girl tripped over herself and fell forwards right infront of him. Now the more noble thing upon seeing this was to drop the Apples and catch her, or if he couldn't catch her, then just check if she was okay immediately. When she was flat on the ground, the Yuki just walked over her without making contact with her with the intention on continuing making his way to the location. There was a pause though, once he was on the other side. The Yuki turned around to the fallen person on the ground and placed the opened crate filled with nice fresh beautiful apples on the ground gently before addressing her.

" Hey...are you alright ? You...probably shouldn't run with your eyes closed ".

Shiruku turned a bit red at the fact that someone had just watched her fall flat on her face. She had only closed her eyes for a split second, it wasn't her fault for falling... right? Puffing her cheeks she looked up at the boy who had spoken to her and glared at him, "I was blinkng! Its not like I meant to trip okay." Shiruku stated with a sense of hurt pride, sitting up she brushed the dirt off her apron and shifted her head to the side quickly to hide the small fit she was having. That was until her eyes crossed sight with what she had come out here for, apples fresh from the orchard. The tiny girl stood up quickly and looked at the towering boy before her, studying him with her crimson red eyes.
"I'm Hana, Shiruku Hana. Ill take a wild guess to say that you're a helper at the orchard? If so thank you for tending to the trees. I wouldn't be able to enjoy nature's red gift otherwise." She said pulling out a few ryo and grabbing one of the apples. The shopkeeper knew she came everyday, and dropping the money on the stall she tossed another to the tall boy. Extending a small offer of acquaintanceship.

Strange, the reaction of the Girl kind of sparked what could have been a slight chuckle. It didn't though, but the feeling was there indicated by what would be a microscopic, barely noticeable smirk. It was because of this amusement that the Yuki developed that he didn't smack her hand when she reached for the Apple. There was nothing really wrong with it since she had Paid for it, but it was just one of those things that was out of place, or at least it was for Val. Looking at her in full now that she was standing, she appeared quite short compared to the average females, though he was not aware of her age so he just assumed her to be very young. The way she was dressed too seemed a bit out of place to him, but was yet another bit of detail to him.

" Shiruku...Hana ".

He believed he was correct in the pronunciation of her name, but spoke it just to ensure that he was correct. He looked to the crates of Apples before looking back to her, and began to address her accordingly. He put a few things together in that moment of her introduction, including her paying prior to the merchandise reaching the store and came down with something that again would make him want to chuckle slightly, but he wouldn't.

" I just do what Im asked to do, whether it's helping at the Greenhouse or the Orchards...or Here so no thanks is needed. I have to ask though, am I wrong in assuming that you have an...Odd appreciation for Apples ? ".

Val really didn't know how to phrase it, and he did his best to be considerate with his words as he did not have intent to insult her in anyway. Just seeing someone fall face flat in the dirt just trying to reach the store for apples was kind of funny, even for him.

( Sorry for the late response T_T. Had a string of events that finally ended )

"That's my name, don't wear it out. And who might you be, Mr. Apple Carrier?" Shiruku replied with the smallest hint of humor in her voice. From a verbal standpoint many would notice how unusually older it sounded from her body, although extremely high in pitch it lacked a childish glaze that normally came with small children. That annoying extra portion to there voice that made you wish they would just shut up. Her body, however, betrayed this with her small stature and the fact that she looked a few years younger than she should, and the fact that she had dressed much like a baby doll that you would see in a little girls arms just made matters worse for her. Taking another bite out of the apple she listened to the boy and nodded, until he mentioned an odd liking of apples.
"I don't really like them that much... I've just always eaten them, normally on a day to day basis. They just sort of became a part of my daily life," Her voice let off the obvious fact that she was lying. Her head looking down and to the side her cheeks puffed up slightly. Looking back at the boy she stared into his eyes and something about the look made it seem like she was staring into him through his own gaze. It was not a cold, or unsettling gaze, but an oddly intrusive one. She was looking at his person, not his appearance, looking at what he was like, or at the very least trying to find her way to that. Talking again after taking a bite of her apple she turned her head back up to stare at the boy, "Do you go to the academy?"

Strangely enough, for the first time in a very long time, indication of humor didn't completely go over his head. It wasn't exactly enough to cause a chuckle or anything, but enough for him to pick up on it and appreciate the attempt. It did bring him to realize that he had not introduced himself, something that wasn't really common practice to him.

" Vales...err...just Val is Fine "

Val was what everyone called him, at least those who knew him. On documentations within the Academy it was Vales, as well as any other official forms, but by people it was simply Val rather it be by individuals who knew him by business such as the workers at the greenhouse, or those closest to him like his very own mother. He remained there, mind slipping from his current task as he listened to her response regarding her obvious love for apples. The response itself didn't seem too odd to Val considering that for a great period of time in his life he just acted without personal feelings towards his tasks or general things requested of him. He could see her just eating them just because...but the way she expressed her reasons told him that she may have been going in the opposite direction of her truth, something that wasn't a problem at all and in fact was kind of adorable. In his eyes at the moment she kind of came off as a shy girl, which isn't too surprising for someone her age, or at least the age he thought she was. A moment of silence came about when she looked back up to him, looking into his eyes, with him looking into hers as a natural product of her action. It was a moment that seemed kind of frozen in time as the two mirrored the gaze, though for completely different reasons. Val wasn't attempting to look into her very being, but was in fact just caught up in her attempt, only to be shattered by what was the sound of teeth going into an apple, which caused his eyes to widen slightly once coming to.

" Huh!? oh!...Yea. I attend the Academy. I haven't been there for a while though...why do you ask ? Are you also at the academy ? ".

He didn't feel the need to give the reason why he haven't been there for awhile, but wasn't against giving it. Still fresh from the ordeal, he was in the process of coming to terms with everything and coming out of it a brand new individual hopefully. The question itself did peak his curiosity though, bringing up a question of his own. Based on her appearance, and personality solely based on the way she expressed herself, he didn't exactly peg her as someone who was interested in the life of being a Ninja, though others could say the exact same about him solely based on who he was prior to the recent event. His mind at this point had completely deviated away from what was his task, though there was time for the interaction considering how punctual he was regarding all the previous tasks.

"Its really nice to meet you Vales... um Val... Can I just call you Vales?" Shiruku asked as she stared into his blue eyes, her head tilting to the left ever so slightly. Taking another bite out of her apple she left a notable crunching noise in the air. The fresh apples had a distinct crispness, and the color of the apple almost matched her eyes. When his eyes widened, she felt almost a haze lift off of him. She couldn't tell if her had zoomed out or not but it almost felt like he had. When he spoke she has taken another bite out of her apple. Once she swallowed the ground up apple mush from chewing it, she replied in an casual fashion, "I'm surprised we never ran into each other... You just you give off the same feeling that I do, you have a reason of some sort to grow into something bigger than what or who you are. Oh! Yeah I attend the academy... You're wondering why someone my size wants to be ninja aren't you?" Shiruku asked bluntly... everyone always had some form of curiosity or problem with her going to the academy.
The young Hana girl was always "Too small" or "Not at that level", lacking "What it takes". That never seemed to be something that would leave her alone, she was not there to prove a point to those people though, she was there simply because it wasn't the way to go through life. She lived for the hard roads in life, and the life of a ninja was just that; the hardest route she could possibly take in life. Much like Vales she was not opposed to to say this if he asked, but Shiruku didn't at the moment feel like giving him an outright answer. If he wanted to know all he had to really do is ask, she had a feeling that for the time being, much like the reason he was not going to class, he would not truly care except maybe out of the basic principles of curiosity. As they stood there conversing a small voice in the back of her head made her think of a topic that was probably best brought up now, "Vales? Don't you... um, have work to do still or was this your last stop?"

It was quite strange, hearing someone ask if they could call him Vales instead of Val. He figured Val was more preferred by most because it was shorter in syllables and just seemed to fit right for a nick name. He gave it a thought for only a mere second before confirming that it was okay for her to call him Vales through a simple nod of his head. Shiruku would probably be the only person that he have known that would refer to him by Vales, excluding the few instances of his mother being upset. Shiruku hit both on the head, both his more general reason for being in the academy, and his curiosity towards her current status within the system. It was something that he had not expected from her, but then again he barely knew her so one could barely have much expectations at this point in time. There was an instant where he felt a bit odd, almost slightly embarrassed when she bluntly pointed out the reason of his curiosity. There was an urge to shake his head quickly and deny it, but he did not act on it, lowering his head slightly. He didn't want her to get the wrong idea nor get offended by it, but that was where his mind went to. It would be a subject that he would place to the back of his head temporarily due to being reminded that he was in the midst of a Task that he had not completed yet.

" Oh! right...Thank you for reminding me. This is my second to last stop I guess...Im supposed to help out the produce shop owner with shop for today. It's right around this corner though but for the first time...I find myself not being in a rush to get to it ".

He motioned over to the Open crate filled with apples and he lifted it up once again. With the payment in his pocket, and the Apples once again in his arms, he was now set for his destination. He didn't want to depart from Shiruku, having some things on his mind that he would actually like to talk to her about, but it wouldn't come to him to ask her to wait out here until he was done since he wasn't aware how long the owner would need him for. It just wouldn't seem right to request that of her, and again since he didn't know how long he was needed, he couldn't even request that they get together later in the day. This became a little problem in his head, one that would be resolved soon after arrival.

" Are you busy now ? I was thinking that maybe that the shop owner could use extra hands to help out at the shop, and who knows...maybe he will probably set you up with more of these apples that you so called don't like too much but clearly was on your way to get before you fell on your face ".

His small and very rare attempt at humor as displayed by the slight smirk on his face.

"Glad I did, you're welcome," Shiruku said with a tiny smile, she looked down away from Vales and took a bite from her apple, "I... don't let me keep you waiting here then... you need to get that done, don't you?" Shiruku Hana asked her compatriot, there was something keeping him there, and it didn't feel right to her to be one of those reasons. She was sure they would meet again without much of a problem in doing so, but without a real guess as to the time it would take for Vales to finish his last stop, or how long he would be kept by the shopkeeper.
"What if I-" Shiruku began before he asked if she was busy. She had begun to reply that she wasn't when he made a well-humored comment that made her blush and glare at him, "Maybe I don't want to help deliver your stupid apple crate. Hmphh." Shiruku said angrily, her cheeks puffed up in a frustrated manner that to anyone watching would make her look cuter than it would make her seem mad. When she saw his smirk she stuck her tongue out at him, "If you're crawling that low for a way to get me to follow you, you must really be desperate to keep me near you." Shiruku stated as she stepped behind him and followed him, more apples was obviously a kind of magic word for her. Like a fat man to his endless buffet, Shiruku Hana could eat and survive off of apples if she really had to. There was a different gleam in her eye now, a type of small glitter that was noticeable when one looked at the bright red jewels that were her irises. She obviously had some reason to love things such as apples. Looking up at Vales she tilted her head a bit curious about something, "Vales... I don't want to know for anything too specific... but do you like apple pie?" To those that had any form of common sense and feasible skill with telling when someone was lying could tell there was a very very simple reason she was asking, and it was quite easy to figure out that it very much so was a test in the grounds towards how much the person liked the obsession of the young and short Hana girl.

Shiruku's Pout would have caused worry for him if she hadn't blushed prior to it. The expression on his face was kind of a relieved one as there were many ways that this could have gone wrong, ways that he wasn't too aware of outside of what he has been told by a certain mother figure. He became stunned for a second when she made her retort towards him about him being desperate to keep her near him. The Yuki couldn't help but become overwhelmed with something that felt like shame, but wasn't exactly shame. There was a small degree of truth in her words as the Yuki found himself slightly enjoying the interaction between the two. He didn't know if she was going to come along with him until she stepped right behind him ready to follow him. He began walking with her following behind, and as they drew closer to the destination she addressed him with a rather odd question. It wasn't exactly the nature of the question itself, but more so what she was asking for. Based on how she asked the question, she didn't want anything specific, but a simple Answer to the question. He thought about it for a second, recalling various instances where his mother made Pie, and trying to recall the flavors and his reaction to them. It wasn't something that he could just answer off the bat as he didn't pay too much attention into what he enjoyed the most back then. Nonetheless he would answer her with an honest Answer once he obtained it after a second of thinking.

" Apple Pie, Yes ".

There was a Pie that he enjoyed the least, which was Pumpkin Pie, but Apple Pie was definitely up there. Considering that they weren't too far from the destination to begin with, they would arrive there within the span of him trying to come up with the Answer. Infront of the store was the Owner waiting for Val to arrive, keeping himself up with a walking stick. The left leg was in a cast, which would explain some things for Val as to why he was requested for assistance. When the shop owner laid eyes on them, he turned towards them and waved with the hand that was available, being quite glad to see the Apples and the courier.

" Hey! Im glad you can make it today...Oh! and it seemed like you brought the world renowned Apple eater ".

There was a slight laugh that followed those words, being glad to also see a frequent customer. Looking at the apples, he turned towards the open doorway of the shop and pointed towards the area where the fruits were located.

" You can pour them into that empty spot near the Pears, and then you can start by helping me out with clean-up duty. I generally keep the store clean so there isn't too much of that to handle ".

He wasn't aware that Shiruku was also there to help out, naturally just assuming that it was just Val to help out and Shiruku to pick up more apples.

Shiruku gave a bit of a gleeful smile that Val would have been looking at her to see as she walked in his blind spot. He liked apple pie. Finally! Someone else who liked apple pie. The sweet cinnamon goodness that was apple pie. If his mother ever found that out... he would be bringing apple pie home every time Shiruku brought him near her. Did his parents like apple pie? She was snapped out as she shop keep said something that was rather common when she showed up, "World Renown Apple Eater", if that was true then she had become what she ate just like in the saying as her face turned bright red. Not many ways to reply to such an embarrassing statement. Calming herself a bit, rather quickly she noted that she was being pointed out as only a customer and not as a helper.
"Sir, I um... I'd like to help out as well if you don't mind. I buy apples here all the time and I was hoping to help out a bit..." Shiruku said aloud to the man who ran the shop, he would recognize her face very well as she came here, though she had never spoken more than a quiet 'thank you' to the shop keeper. Her hands were fiddling around nervous for a response, but she maintained eye contact with the shop keep and her eyes showed genuine wishing to help out at the shop. After all, it was the store she had come to for apples since she was the proper age to be her height.
