PostSubject: Pet Distress   Mon Apr 25, 2016 1:46 pm

Seresana sat at one of the benches along the edge of a small park and training field. She was dressed and geared for a mission today, wearing her usual short-sleeved white shirt with it's three green cloth ties around her waist, chest, and right arm. The last of which actually sported her protector, the leaf insignia dully gleaming in the overhead sunlight. Over the shirt was her dark purple vest with it's own bright red embroidered leaf insignia on the back. Her black pants also sported their usual ties, one green above the left knee and the other white one below the right knee. Her wooden sandals lightly skimmed the dirt as she idly kicked her legs while waiting. Behind her was a full quiver with arrows that was secured to the waist tie along with her ninja tool pack. Next to her was her hand crafted bow, a collar, and the mission scroll that held the details of the day's assignments. An errant breeze kicked up for a second and Seresana reached a hand up to brush the medium length strands of black hair away from her emerald eyes, another reminder that she needed to see about getting it cut or styled soon. Maybe after this mission, she thought idly to herself while continuing to impatiently wait for Sylvan to arrive. Seresana had been so excited about going on a mission with her friend that she'd actually gotten there a little early, but now she was getting a little bored just sitting by herself.

From very close behind her, Sena would hear Sylvan ask "Sena? You're here already. Did I keep you waiting?" Sylvan was wearing Yusuri's coat, with the forehead protector around one arm. Presumably she was also wearing her usual Yamanaka t-shirt, but ti was really hard to tell underneath the trench-coat. From the neck down, she looked like a slightly taller Yusuri, even moving similarly. That had to be forced.
Sylvan circles around the bench and hugs Sena. "I apologize for keeping you waiting. I am ready to go on the mission."
She had no visible weapons, though her finger-nails had a vaguely metallic gleam to them.
Hidden throughout her coat in sleeves or easy access loops were several kunai, including her custom curved one.

Seresana smiled back when Sylvan announced herself, and she hugged back tightly when Sylvan hugged her. "Not long," she replied while in the embrace. "It's alright, I've got our mission scroll right here though. I hope you don't mind us taking on a D rank for our first mission together," Seresana added while pushing herself up off the bench and picking up the items that were still on it. She handed the scroll over to Sylvan to read it over herself but went ahead speaking anyways as she made sure her bow was ready. "It seems that a lot of people's pets have been going missing lately so there's been a lot of missions to find them recently," Seresana went on when her inspection of the bow was finished. She then waited for Sylvan to finish reading the scroll.

The scroll itself was a fairly detailed description of a small calico cat with a distinctive black and blue cord collar with a small silver bell on it named Franky.

Sylvan reluctantly breaks off the hug, recognizing that both of them needed full use of their hands. She gratefully takes the scroll and begins reading over its contents, humming and nodding to herself at various bits. "Why would I be concerned about the rank of the mission? Spending time with you is its own reward Sena." she says offhandedly. Smooth moves. Thank y- Hey! Get back in your corner! Nu-uh! We're going on a mission! A pet finding mission will not entail you murdering people! Hey hey, you never know. Missions tend to spiral out of control.
"At any rate, do we know where to start our search?"
Sylvan rolls up the scroll, leaning back on the bench as she watches Sena prepare.

Seresana grinned brightly about the compliment, enjoying the notion herself a decent bit. She waited for Sylvan to finish reviewing the scroll patiently, but her soft grin broke a little at the question. "Not really, all we've got is the owner's address, so I figured we could ask around there a bit, see if any of the neighbors saw anything or maybe try to pick up some kind of trail," Seresana replied as she shifted about and got ready to lead Sylvan and herself over to the owner's house. "C'mon, we'd better hurry if we're going to get this done today," Seresana added before beginning to set off.

It wasn't a long walk to get to the pet owner's house, and took even less time to get what little additional information from her. Apparently a few days ago, the previously indoor only cat simply disappeared, the only clue being an open alley window. Seresana thanked the woman and then circled about to address Sylvan. "We should split up here. Why don't you go inspect the alley and see if there's any sign of where Franky could have gone while I ask a few of the other neighbors if they'd seen or heard anything," Seresana suggested.

Sylvan nods, stepping away from her friend and walking over to the alley. She takes a cursory look around, taking a convenient stick and poking aside some of the refuse. Look at the window. Sylvan turns, spotting the aforementioned alley way window. The lock looks busted. A mystery! It appears to have been busted from the inside, not that it was likely ever sturdy in the first place. Something heavy like a cat leaning on it for weeks would eventually snap it like a twig. ... You're no fun Pragmatism.
Sylvan walks over. We aren't trackers.... And it didn't leave paw prints. This sucks! We'll have to hunt for it on foot, haphazardly! Let us return to Sena. She should be informed.
Sylvan spins on her heel, walking out of the alley way and looking around for Sena. "Sena? Are you there?"

"Right here Sylvan," Seresana replied while jogging over to her with an annoyed grin on her face. "I hope you found something more helpful because only one neighbor seemed to have seen anything at all and it wasn't exactly reliable. They think they saw Franky walking away from the owner's house and over that way," Seresana paused to point in the direction of several workshops and storage buildings, "possibly on the day she went missing, but they're uncertain." When Seresana finished, she looked back over at Sylvan and let out sigh. "If you didn't find anything to the contrary, I guess we'll start looking over in that direction."

Sylvan looks over, smiling slightly as she walks up to Sylvan. She doesn’t intentionally loom over her friend, but there was no helping it. To Sena’s question though, she shakes her head sympathetically. “Unfortunately not. Apart from knowing how it escaped, I found no indication of where the cat had gone. You said its name was ‘Franky’?” Sylvan shrugs, already heading in the direction Sena had pointed. “We may as well looking around. Perhaps we’ll find something. Either tracks, or someone who has seen it more recently. I would take both, at this point.” she stops, looking back. “Are you coming, Sena?”

Seresana nodded and hurriedly caught up to Sylvan before just walking along with her as they began their more mundane search for Franky. Seresana walked on a bit farther with Sylvan until she saw a man sweeping the street near where they were walking. She approached the man and produced the picture to which he noted seeing someone with a similar looking cat heading down another street that lead towards some storage buildings. Seresana thanked the man before rushing back over to Sylvan and informing her about the new information.

Seresana redirected them to the new street and began walking down it. "Do you think someone might have assumed the cat was homeless?" Seresana asked Sylvan as they walked on towards the building.

Sylvan follows along, quietly looking around. A few people registered her presence, but usually because Sena was talking to her. Sylvan herself still wasn't certain how anything about her equated to 'hard to notice', but she wasn't complaining. Her friends noticed her, and that's what mattered. "this street? You're sure?"
To Sena's other question, she shrugs. "It's possible, but if there are posters put up then I doubt it."

"Positive," she replied to Sylvan asking if the street was okay. Seresana then nodded again to the point Sylvan made about the chances of the cat being mistakenly taken home. "Yeah, I guess you're right," she even admitted while continuing to walk on past the buildings. Suddenly though, Seresana stopped mid stride and held her arm up and out to stop Sylvan as well. "Wait Sylvan, did you hear that?" Seresana asked while straining her ears to try and hear it again. A few seconds later, the very soft and quiet sound of a cat's mewling barely reached the two ninja's position. "Where do you think it came from?" Seresana asked a moment after the sound as she quickly began to look about for the source of the noise, though she seemed unable to pin point where it was coming from.

When Seresana didn't get a reply, she looked over towards Sylvan to see that the green-haired girl had passed out. "Oh no, not again," Seresana said as she leaned down and scooped up the taller girl with a surprising amount of ease. Then Seresana turned towards the hospital and began running that way.
